syGlass VR demos at the Cell Imaging Core

Dear Core users,
Yesterday, the Cell Imaging Core had the pleasure to meet with Dr. George Spirou and his associate Brandy Freitas as they demonstrated their inventive virtual reality visualization and analysis tool, syGlass.  Dr. Spirou and his team first introduced syGlass in 2016 but have further developed the software to handle larger data sets, higher resolution data, and have even introduced educational high school courses and curriculums that have been implemented into several classrooms. SyGlass aims to innovate and improve upon scientific discovery resources and techniques by providing an immersive learning environment and a multitude of analysis tools for researchers and educators.
During syGlass’s visit to Salt Lake City, our Cell Imaging Core team had the opportunity to learn about this unique product by interacting with various different data sets within the syGlass software.  We “swam” through the colorful data sets, segmented morphological structures, quantified cell counts, and sliced through 2-, 3-, and 4D data.  With the simple user interface of the syGlass software and training assistance from George and Brandy, we easily interacted with complex projects and excitedly discussed the future application of syGlass within our campus and Cell Imaging Core communities.  Our Core team looks forward to continuing correspondence with syGlass and hopes to provide our valued Core users with this incredible tool!
From, Cell Imaging Core team
