2026 Metabolomics and Lipidomics Short Course

Join us for the 2026 Metabolomics and Lipidomics Short Course on July 28, 29, and 30.

This three-day short course in metabolomics and lipidomics will introduce participants to the fundamental concepts and analytical strategies used to study small molecules and lipids in biological systems. Topics will include sample preparation and experimental design, with emphasis on minimizing variability and ensuring reproducibility, followed by in-depth coverage of analytical platforms such as liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC‑MS), and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC‑MS). The course also explores workflows for both targeted and untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics, including compound identification, quantification, and annotation challenges. Data processing, normalization, and statistical analysis are a major focus, alongside pathway and network analysis to interpret biological meaning. Additional sessions will address quality control, standardization efforts, and best practices for reporting results, as well as applications in areas such as disease biomarker discovery, systems biology, nutrition, and drug development, providing a comprehensive overview from experimental design through biological interpretation.
